STGAP Galvanically Isolated 4 A Single Gate Driver

The STMicroelectronics STGAP3S is a galvanically isolated single-channel gate driver product family for IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs, the first product designed in BCD9S galvanic isolation technology. The STGAP3S product family provides state of the art capacitive isolation between the gate driving channel and the low-voltage control and interface circuitry. STGAP3S is the first ST device embedding reinforced capacitive isolation, allowing a CMTI of 200 V/ns. The platform includes different options with 10 A and 6 A current capability, each available with dedicated UVLO and DESAT variants for SiC MOSFETs and IGBTs.

Ultrafast desaturation protection is also available with a differentiated intervention threshold and configurable soft turn-off. The availability of the Miller clamp and optional negative driving enable optimal driving performance. The device can work with high voltage rails up to 1200 V and is available in part numbers that differ by the output current capability (10 A and 6 A) and for the dedicated UVLO and DESAT options for IGBT and SiC MOSFETs. The control interface consists of two gate drive input pins (IN+, IN-), a fault reset and a shutdown input pin (RST), and two open drain output pins for desaturation protection (DIAG) and for UVLO and overtemperature protections (RDY).

The STGAP4S is a galvanically isolated single-channel gate driver for IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs. It features advanced protections, parameter configuration, and diagnostics. The architecture of the STGAP4S isolates the channel gate driving from the control circuitry and the low-voltage interface through the galvanic isolation. The output architecture allows the use of an external MOSFET push-pull stage that provides flexibility in terms of current capability and facilitates the use of several power switches in parallel. The negative gate driving supply is also allowed. Using STGAP4S allows users to optimize the total BOM as it integrates the flyback controller to generate the power supplies for the gate driving side and the integration of the ADC.

STGAP2 is a group of galvanically isolated gate drivers for single-channel and dual-channel industrial and automotive applications for MOSFETs, SiC MOSFETs, and IGBTs. STGAP2 isolated gate drivers are extremely flexible as they provide a large number of parameters that can be adjusted to best match the selected MOSFET or IGBT and system requirements. They also provide extensive diagnostic features to help enhance system robustness and reliability. Evaluation hardware, software, and technical documentation are available to help minimize time to market.
