The Cypress PSoC 4000 family delivers 32-bit performance with a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 MCU to upgrade legacy 8-bit and 16-bit MCUs. The ARM Cortex-M0 processes instructions three times faster than a 16-bit MCU and 45 times faster than an 8-bit device. Faster instruction processing enables the ARM Cortex-M0 to spend more time in sleep modes, thereby, reducing the power consumption. The graph on this slide compares the performance of an ARM Cortex-M0 device against legacy 8-bit and 16-bit MCUs using the Dhrystone Benchmark which is used to calculate the relative performance of an MCU.
