Some of the terms used in this presentation are shown on this slide. First is liquid tolerance, which is the ability of a touch-sensing solution to work properly in the presence of water droplets, streaming water, mist, or other liquids. A proximity sensor is a sensor that can detect the presence of nearby objects without any physical contact. Next is the signal-to-noise ratio or SNR. This is the ratio of the sensor signal, when touched, to the noise signal of an untouched sensor. Manual tuning is the process of configuring capacitive button parameters for optimal performance. This is required to compensate for system, manufacturing, and environmental changes.
