To test these microscopic movements, the coil is operated at about 100 cycles per second. This will allow observation of the patterns on an oscilloscope. Operating at these speeds the mechanical dynamics are being pushed to the upper limits. The DCR is like an electrical microscope looking at the mechanical system. In this way, the DCR will show and expose any flaws in the mechanical system. These flaws represent potential early operating failures which can be eliminated and never find their way into a customer’s equipment.
