Reed relays are capable of switching into the billions of operations, more like semiconductors than electromechanical relays, exhibiting long life times. No technology other than reed relays is capable of switching zero voltage and current. They can also switch and hold off up to 15,000 volts. Reed relays have as low as 100 femto-farads across the open contacts, allowing the customer to switch very low signals in the nano-volt and pico-amp levels. Insulation resistance is greater than 10 TΩ. No semiconductor or electromechanical relay can offer isolation at this level, which gives rise to applications only reed relays can perform.
