The automatic clearing bit allows the ADC unit to clear the AD data register after the data has been read by software, DMAC, or DTC. This is especially useful when software triggering is not used or the DTC or DMAC is used to periodically read a result. The DTC could be transferring data at a fixed rate but the ADC may never have been started or could be missing a trigger source.
