As shown on this slide, to really secure TLS three components are required. TLS is currently missing a couple of those key pieces. It does not have strong client authentication or secure storage of keys and sensitive data. It does have encryption, but unless the user can identify who it is they are communicating with and unless they are able to protect the keys being used for encryption, the encryption becomes much less useful.
