Digital signals are magnetically coupled to the secondary side of the transformer by applying short pulses to the primary. These pulses are then detected by the circuitry on the secondary side and used to recreate the original signal. This technology is also used to isolate the integrated DC-DC converter through an extension of the iCoupler Technology termed isoPower. This allows both data and power isolation to be integrated into a single package.
