The example on this slide shows a safety control application for solar panels. Several solar panels are connected in series. Each panel may be switched in and out of the array based on their operational status and physical condition. The Master control unit communicates over the DC wiring with the Slave units in each solar panel to monitor its status and to determine if the panel should be switched in or out of the array. If a particular solar panel is damaged or becomes inoperable it may be switched out of the array so that it does not adversely affect the operation of the system.
